As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023! My Mum then prepares some bits for Christmas Dinner and my evening usually kicks off with the annual trifle making. I’m not sure how many years I’ve been making one for me and my Dad but it’s at least 6+ so it’s become a tradition now!
The evening is (hopefully) a bit more chilled out and we usually watch a Christmas film. This year’s pick is The Muppet's Christmas Carol! One of my favourite traditions is getting a few gifts to open on Christmas Eve. Most often, this consists of some new festive pyjamas which we usually put on straight away and have them for Christmas morning. I’ve had multiple designs over the years and this time I received this matching grey fairisle set which I really love! Luckily it’s not too thick as I hate getting too hot but it’s also pretty cosy too.
We also like to have a hot chocolate whilst watching the film and this year we're having one made from an orange Lindt chocolate bar, melting this with milk makes an amazing hot chocolate and is the perfect drink for Christmas Eve!
We also sometimes receive another small gift to open, sometimes slippers or socks, last year I got a Christmas Mug and quiz book. This year, we all got another book each and as I’m not a massive read of fiction, I actually got this Sherlock Holmes puzzle book. It looks really interesting as you have to try and put on your best Sherlock head in order to solve different puzzles and problems, it’s definitely something fun you can do by yourself or with the whole family!
I can’t quite believe that it’s Christmas Day tomorrow, every year I remark on how quickly it comes around but it just seems to fly by. I still have a few festive posts to put up, including a What I Got For Christmas! I hope everyone has a lovely day, whatever it is you celebrate!
