DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!

My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion!

If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had:

  • scones
  • jam
  • clotted cream
  • mini sausage rolls
  • mini cheese & onion rolls
  • strawberries
  • raspberries
  • chocolate cake
  • coffee & walnut cake
  • biscuits
  • pot of tea
I was hoping to go for a walk on my birthday but as the weather was awful I started off the day by running a bath and catching up on the new series of Unforgotten which was a nice way to start of a very chilled day!

I usually receive money from family members so I can choose what I want which I'm always grateful for! Rather than waiting, I did a couple of clothes shops online so it was nice to have a few new things to wear on my birthday! I also got a pink cushion which is great for support if I'm on my laptop in bed and some white Adidas trainers.

My Grandad's birthday is the same day as mine and usually we'd all get together at some point as March is a very heavy birthday month for the family. Obviously we weren't able to that this year but we did pop down to wish my Grandad a happy birthday from outside!

The evening was also super low-key, we ordered Indian and then did a series of online video quizzes! Since we can't go to pub quizzes I thought it might be fun to do our own at home. We did a few rounds of general knowledge trivia, music/tv/film music and a guess the celebrity from their baby photo! It was something a little different than just watching a film or tv and turned out to be quite a laugh. I've seen a lot of people set up similar things with their families or friends over zoom too which could be a fun way to celebrate any upcoming birthdays before the restrictions ease!

I finished off the day with some pink gin & lemonade, accompanied by the cookies that my Mum made. So, despite not being able to go out anywhere I still had a very enjoyable birthday! I'd love to know how other people have celebrated their birthdays in lockdown too!

Have a look on Topshop for some inspiration!        Image via: Topshop  Shirt - This is definitely something I know my Dad would appreciate and would be a great present if you tend to dress smarter on Christmas day! There are some great choices at John Lewis and Marks and Spencer.  Slippers - Another ideal gift for this time of the year and so cosy,  Next  have some great ones! ...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
