DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

JUNE MONTHLY FAVOURITES

Yes we are approaching the end of July but I'm taking it back a month and sharing things I enjoyed over June. I took a break from blogging for various reasons but I want to get back on track and hate the thought of missing out a monthly favourites post so here we are!

Creativity

As I've previously mentioned on here, I've been experimenting with typography and calligraphy since it is something I find so intriguing. I've spent a lot of time using my graphics tablet to practice but over June I wanted to try out some more freehand stuff. I do have some brush pens but I've mostly been using some felt tips that I got in Ikea a while back, trying to keep it as simple as possible! It can be really frustrating and there are so many other styles I want to try out but it can actually be pretty relaxing if you just spend some time trying things out!

TV

Now I know there are a lot of mixed opinions about this but yes I have been sucked into the Love Island bubble. I actually didn't watch any of the previous series until they came on to Netflix and then after binging them I couldn't resist giving the new series a go when it started back in June. A lot of it is ridiculous and I know there are various issues but everyone loves a bit of drama now and again don't they. It's a bit of fun that is strangely engaging so yes, I've been tuning in at 9 every night throughout June and July too!

Food

My go-to meal recently has been Pesto tortelloni with cheese and a few tomatoes, I'm not sure why but I can't get enough! I think that it's because it is a pretty light, quick and easy meal which is perfect for the sunny weather - you don't want to stand in a hot kitchen for ages, do you! I've been using the Tesco 'basil and pesto' tortelloni and have then actually mixed it in with some more pesto just for even more flavour. That may be too much of a pesto overload for some people but with some grated cheese and a few plum tomatoes, I'm obsessed! On a more unhealthy note, I also enjoyed eating my way through a Toblerone bar, it had actually been ages since I'd eaten any Toblerone chocolate so I very much enjoyed it!

YouTube

I always enjoy finding new content to watch on YouTube but recently I've gone back to some old favourites that I hadn't watched for a while. In particular are videos from Cimorelli - a band made up of 6 sisters who post covers, their own songs and a lot of other more chatty videos too. However I've especially been enjoying their podcast which you can watch here, the episodes are based around a certain track on their album 'Sad Girls Club' and I've really enjoyed it because it's so relatable and feels like you're just listening to some friends chat about life & it's ups and downs!

Fitness

Okay, so I use the term 'fitness' lightly here as I'm just going to talk about resistance bands that I've mainly been using to help loosen up and strengthen my back. I've suffered from back/neck issues for a few years and always find myself feeling really tight and uncomfortable after a long day, especially after working since it involves a lot of bending down, carrying and leaning over. So in order to help stretch the muscles and hopefully build up some strength, I've been using some resistance bands, I'm still experimenting but they definitely do help and I'll hopefully be using them more and more!

Lifestyle

Something to mention has to be the amazing weather we have had and are continuing to have here in England. I don't think anyone can quite believe how much sun we've seen and I'm totally here for it. Spending time outside is something I always enjoy and earlier in June I played crazy golf with my family. Doing something fun and competitive is a great laugh and I always enjoy visiting the course at Sandbanks so if you're ever in the area you should definitely give it a go!

Sorry for such a delay with this post, hopefully, I'll be able to get back into a more regular routine now and I'll have to start thinking about my July favourites soon too! I hope everyone has been enjoying the weather!

BLOGMAS: CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE

Christmas is approaching so today I thought I'd share my gift guide to hopefully give you inspiration for the people you are buying for this year. I am going to do a combination of gifts for her, gifts for him and then gifts for anyone!  Knitted Jumper - Perfect for this time of the year and something most people would appreciate. Head over to Asos for a huge selection!  Jacket - Another one that is useful for the colder weather, personally I'd like a denim jacket this Christmas but you could also go for a leather, smarter or bomber jacket. Have a look on Topshop for some inspiration!        Image via: Topshop  Shirt - This is definitely something I know my Dad would appreciate and would be a great present if you tend to dress smarter on Christmas day! There are some great choices at John Lewis and Marks and Spencer.  Slippers - Another ideal gift for this time of the year and so cosy,  Next  have some great ones! ...

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!   My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion! If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had: scones jam clotted cream mini sausage rolls mini cheese & onion rolls strawberries raspberries chocolate cake coffee & walnut cake  biscuits pot of tea I was hopin...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
