As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023! I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...
As I don’t want to force a favourites post every month, I thought I’d just do a roundup of things I’ve been liking when I feel like it! As I’ve not posted as regularly I feel like I’ve got a good selection to share today!
Travel
Travel
As I mentioned in my previous post, I spent a week away in Northumberland at the end of summer. We were pretty lucky with the weather so managed to spend a couple of days at the beach and did a lot of walking just to spend time outside. We also visited a cove in Dunbar, Scotland that I’d spent a lot of time at whilst on holiday 10 years ago, it brought back a lot of memories! We also went swimming, played mini-golf a couple of times and just explored the surrounding areas. I was able to take a lot of photos because the views were so nice and it was definitely good to get away and visit somewhere new!
Netflix
I’m always watching things on Netflix, a lot of the time its things I love and re-watch but it’s also great to find something new. I recently watched the series, Unbelievable as I’d heard a lot about and I have to say, I thought it was really well done. It discusses important and sensitive subjects, offering different perspectives and is actually based on a true story.
Fractured is a new film release that was pretty interesting too. If you like mystery/thriller type things that keep you guessing then I’d recommend checking it out!
Like many people, I, of course, watched the new series of Queer Eye and Stranger Things a while ago, both of which I really liked. In fact, I think season 3 of Stranger Things was my favourite so far!
I also have to mention Gilmore Girls as I’m obsessed and am currently re-watching it (won’t be the last time either!) My younger sister is also watching it with me so it’s interesting to hear her opinions on things!
Podcast/Music
I’ve also been trying out some podcasts, I’d listen to some before but it’s something I’ve found useful when studying if I want a break from music. I like to always have something on in the background and since a lot of podcasts are available on Spotify, I’ve been trying some out! I know true crime podcasts are really popular and I find all that super interesting so I’ll definitely have to check some of that out too!
I first started listening to Emma Chamberlain’s podcast, ‘Stupid Genius’ as I enjoy her YouTube content and I find the different topics she explores pretty interesting!
I also like ‘Zane and Heath: Unfiltered’ but I’ll often just watch it on YouTube instead as I watch their other channels too. It’s still fairly new but they’re both really funny and talk about a tonne of random things so you never know what you’re going to get! I also love the dynamic they have with Matt and Mariah too.
My newest find is probably ‘Sierra Unfiltered’ in which Sierra and her friend, Skylar share their life and thoughts on various topics. I really liked their episode in which they cast YouTubers as roles in films since I thought that was really fun!
Although I have a broad taste in music I’ve mostly been listening Post Malone recently after he released his album, Hollywood's Bleeding. I like all of the songs but my favourites are probably Circles, Die For Me, Staring At The Sun, Take What You Want and Goodbyes!
Food
Popcorn is always one of my favourite snacks but I’ve been liking cinnamon popcorn a lot recently. As it’s Autumn I feel this is appropriate, however, I’d (obviously) eat it all year round because it’s so good! I actually bought a pack of Proper Corn microwave popcorn but I’d like to make my own at some point too!
I was also really craving Rocky Road for a while back and then whilst in Morrisons, I saw they had a pack of 5 and couldn’t resist! I also managed to refrain from eating them all in one go so that's a bonus but they were really good and I need to make some of my own soon!
App
I’ve shared many times on my blog that I love experimenting with photography and as film cameras and effects have become popular recently, I been trying out different apps. One of my favourites is the Kamon - Classic Film Camera app as it is super quick and easy to use but gives so many different effects that make your photos look really interesting and unique. It’s definitely something I’ll be trying out a lot in the next few days but here are a few shots I’ve taken so far!
The OCR Handwritten app is another that I’ve been using a lot lately and it’s been SO useful for studying. I prefer to handwrite notes first because I find it easier to gather my thoughts but I have to then type it all up to submit it. This app allows you to take a photo of your notes and then it turns it into text which saves so much time! It’s not 100% accurate but then my notes aren’t my neatest writing and I’d rather correct a few mistakes than type the whole thing up anyway!
Let me know what things you’ve been loving recently, I feel like I need some more seasonal and Autumn bits!
