DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

STARTING OFF 2020 RIGHT

You don’t have to wait for a new year to make better decisions, habits or goals but I think it does motivate people to reflect on what they want to do over the next 12 months.

After the Christmas period and when no one really knows what day it is, it can often be a relief when January rolls around! It’s an opportunity to get back into a routine and be a bit more organised again. I took some time to have a think about my goals and plans for 2020 so thought I’d share them here!

Creative Arts degree

In late April 2019, I started studying for a Creative Arts open degree (you can read more about it here). I’ve made a lot of progress and am really getting into it now. Obviously studying is something that is a priority and I want to dedicate a lot of time to over the next year so I can continue learning and working my way through the degree. I’ve enjoyed it so far and am looking forward to the upcoming stages!

Regular exercise

Of course, I want to improve my overall health and fitness but I also want to enjoy exercising on a regular basis. It’s easy to get into a routine that becomes tedious and eventually leads you to stop exercising altogether! I don’t want to put too much pressure on a specific routine, it could be during an afternoon study break or just before bed! In fact, I often find that I’m most productive later at night and so have found myself getting in some exercise then. I also got a fitness watch for Christmas and have been using that to track my exercise progress.

Organisation

Being a bit more organised certainly can’t hurt and to do this I want to try and keep up to date with my weekly planner. So far it’s been going well and I’ve found it useful to set out the tasks I want to achieve each day, as well as recording important dates. I want to keep my planner fairly brief so for any longer lists/notes I’ll probably keep using the app ‘Notebook’ since I always have my phone with me!

Sleep pattern

This is definitely something I’ve mentioned on here before and it’s not an easy thing to improve! I’ve never been someone to sleep early or need a lot of hours so I don’t actually have an issue getting up, I just find it difficult to fall asleep. I find myself being wide awake in the early hours of the morning and would definitely like to keep to more of a routine! Perhaps I’ll share some tips if I managed to do that at some point!

Creativity

Alongside my degree, I also want to allow myself time to be creative purely for enjoyment too, whether it’s photography or some other form of art. I also started using the 1 Second Everyday app because I think it will be really interesting to look back on a little snippet of each day at the end of the year!

Travel Experiences

Travelling to new places is something I always enjoy so I want to try and plan for this as much as possible. It may not be a big trip, in fact, things like theatre/cinema, shopping or random day trips are all great ways of visiting new places and having great experiences. I went to a Jack Whitehall concert at the start of January in Cardiff which was the first stand up comedy show I’d been to. As he’s been one of my favourite comedians for years I couldn’t pass up the opportunity and am so glad I got a ticket because it was a brilliant show!

Please feel free to let me know some of the things you hope to do over the next year! I realise this post is a little late, however, we are still somehow in January so thought I'd share it. Also, why does this month always feel like its 80 days long?!

BLOGMAS: CHRISTMAS GIFT GUIDE

Christmas is approaching so today I thought I'd share my gift guide to hopefully give you inspiration for the people you are buying for this year. I am going to do a combination of gifts for her, gifts for him and then gifts for anyone!  Knitted Jumper - Perfect for this time of the year and something most people would appreciate. Head over to Asos for a huge selection!  Jacket - Another one that is useful for the colder weather, personally I'd like a denim jacket this Christmas but you could also go for a leather, smarter or bomber jacket. Have a look on Topshop for some inspiration!        Image via: Topshop  Shirt - This is definitely something I know my Dad would appreciate and would be a great present if you tend to dress smarter on Christmas day! There are some great choices at John Lewis and Marks and Spencer.  Slippers - Another ideal gift for this time of the year and so cosy,  Next  have some great ones! ...

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!   My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion! If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had: scones jam clotted cream mini sausage rolls mini cheese & onion rolls strawberries raspberries chocolate cake coffee & walnut cake  biscuits pot of tea I was hopin...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
