DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

PHOTO DUMP

I've been seeing people post 'photo dumps' on Instagram a lot recently and since I take a lot of photos, I thought why not share some of them on here! Also, this means I can write a bit more about them as well, I don't think anyone wants to read a blog post as an Instagram caption!
Sunsets are one of my favourite things to see and also photograph. I've found that my iPhone often can't quite capture the colours so recently I took out my camera whilst on an evening walk. All of these photos were taken on the same day and from a few different points along a field near my house! The sky was pretty cloudy but I really think it added to the photos, it was definitely a moodier sunset in comparison to the lighter pink hues below.

Although I'm writing this on a very grey and rainy day, we have had some sunny days and I made the most of them by getting outside and going for walks. What's not shown in the photos above is the state of my shoes after I found myself walking through some very muddy grass!

The view from the top of Gold Hill is infamous and of course, I've got many photos of it from over the years. However, the view from the bottom is also great and it really captures how pretty the cottages are! Trees are another favourite subject of mine to photograph, it's also interesting to look back on them to see the differences throughout the seasons.

I'm lucky to have a really nice garden and we get a lot of birds visiting so I recently started trying to catch a few photos of them! It's definitely a waiting game when it comes to getting a good shot, particularly when you have a dog that enjoys barking at them through the window!

I had very much missed being by the sea during lockdown and was so pleased that we chose a sunny day to visit earlier in April! We didn't stay too long as it was still pretty windy but it felt so nice to have a walk a long the beach, I'm definitely hoping for more beach days as the weather improves!

While visiting the beach we also played a round of mini golf and it was great to be out doing something that felt relatively normal. Coincidentally, it was one of the last things we did as a family before the first lockdown in 2020 so it felt quite strange going back again! This year has been good for keeping up with regular exercise, it's become a habit now and recently I've enjoyed switching it up a but. I've started using a skipping rope and weighted hula hoop, (very much influenced by TikTok) which has been fun, besides the bruises from the hoop! I also got a ukelele and have starting playing around with it and watching some videos to try and learn a bit. It's definitely something I'd have to dedicate way more time too but it's fun learning something new in a very casual way!

I've also just accepted by offer for university and will be headed to Brighton in September, I'm so excited to live somewhere new! I've also joined a few group chats with other people going to Brighton and it's been great getting to know some people before we start, especially as none of us have been able to visit the university in person.

Various food and drink can always be found in my camera roll so thought I'd share a few of those photos as well! From drinks in the garden, to Taco Bell trips or a quick Costa in the rain...as you can tell, I didn't exactly stick to the healthy options but if it tastes good then I'll take it!

I'm really liking this trend, it's so interesting to see a mix of people's recent photos and to hear what they have been up to! Let me know if you've shared anything similar over on your Instagram or blog like me.

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!   My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion! If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had: scones jam clotted cream mini sausage rolls mini cheese & onion rolls strawberries raspberries chocolate cake coffee & walnut cake  biscuits pot of tea I was hopin...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
