10 CHILDHOOD SNACKS I'D BRING BACK Skip to main content

Since the academic year has recently started I thought I'd do a quick post to share some tips that I used or wish I knew at the time! I often found myself feeling pretty prepared and motivated at the start of the year but hopefully, some of these will help that to continue all year round, or more at least!

Attitude and Behaviour

Put in the effort now - when you get further into the year you'll thank yourself for putting in the time to learn everything properly, especially when it comes to revision as you'll already have materials to look back at.
> Mistakes are good - it can be disheartening when you make mistakes or don't get the feedback you hoped for but learning from them is a really productive and useful way to help improve.
> Strengths and Weaknesses - everyone has things they are better at and things they may struggle with, finding that out now and setting time aside to focus on the things you find harder will help reduce stress. You could also study w…

I was talking with my family recently about snacks that have been discontinued in the U.K and have come up with a list of things I would love to see back on our shelves! Admittedly most of these are chocolate but that's only because there were so many to choose from!

1) Mingles - These are at the top of my list because these were my absolute favourite to have at Christmas time. Bendick's still do some minty alternatives but I'm sorry, why were these ever taken away?!

2) Calippo Shots - As a child this would always be my choice when the sun decided to show itself. Everyone I knew would also see how quickly they could eat them which almost always ended in brain freeze! I was surprised to see they had been discontinued though.

3) Mars Delight - I'm pretty sure these were never around long anyway but I would still love to have another. It was just a much lighter and crispier version than an actual Mars Bar, and sometimes that's exactly what you need.

4) Panda Pops - Terrible for you but also so good. I'm pretty sure these were discontinued due to how much rubbish they had in them but boy do they make me think of my childhood! The cherry flavour was always my favourite.

5) Cadbury Yowies - A lot 'of people don't remember these but they were originally Australian (came to the UK in early 2000s) and came in foil packaging with one of the 'Yowie characters' on. Inside was a hollow chocolate figure, small collectable toy and a message about saving the environment. I love these growing up and I was so pleased to hear that they might be making a comeback in Australia - I'll have to get my hands on one!

6) Flake Snow - Now I wouldn't say that I am absolutely gutted about these but I would definitely be interested in giving them a try again. It's pretty self explanatory but essentially it is a white Flake, covered in Cadbury's normal milk chocolate.

7) Aqua Drops - I had honestly forgotten about how nice these were until recently. They came in a handy little pot and were green and white apple sweets. Again probably not great for you but I loved to have one during car journeys.

8) Galaxy Truffle - Remember these? I was so shocked when I realised that Celebrations didn't feature these anymore! They were never my favourite but I still enjoyed them, especially around Christmas time!

9) Cadbury Snaps - Think Pringles but chocolate. I wouldn't say they were the best thing Cadbury ever did but they were always great to snack on. You know how you can eat your way through a tube or Pringles without realising it? Well these are the same and I would love to try them again for sure. You can get some knock of versions I think, but nothing compares to Cadbury, does it!

10) Cadbury Dream - I'm not a real lover of white chocolate but I did like to have these every so often. In my opinion Cadbury does the best chocolate. So a white chocolate alternative to their Dairy Milk, and I know some people who prefer white over milk chocolate so I'm surprised they got rid of it!

Christmas is approaching so today I thought I'd share my gift guide to hopefully give you inspiration for the people you are buying for this year. I am going to do a combination of gifts for her, gifts for him and then gifts for anyone!
Knitted Jumper - Perfect for this time of the year and something most people would appreciate. Head over to Asos for a huge selection!  Jacket - Another one that is useful for the colder weather, personally I'd like a denim jacket this Christmas but you could also go for a leather, smarter or bomber jacket. Have a look on Topshop for some inspiration!
Shirt - This is definitely something I know my Dad would appreciate and would be a great present if you tend to dress smarter on Christmas day! There are some great choices at John Lewis and Marks and Spencer.  Slippers - Another ideal gift for this time of the year and so cosy, Next have some great ones!  Converse - Another one that is on my list this year, basically a wardrobe staple b…

Last Saturday I turned 19 and to celebrate, my boyfriend kindly paid for a trip to London. So on the Friday we morning, we made the journey from our little town to the busy streets of city life. The journey actually went really quickly, (around 2 hours) though we were both very hungry when we got there!

We stayed in The Grange St. Pauls hotel which was absolutely gorgeous and I would 100% recommend it to anyone. The room itself was a perfect size - spacious but still felt cosy and the bed was super comfortable, something I was very appreciative after the long day! However my favourite part and one of the reasons I chose this hotel were the leisure facilities. The pool itself was amazing and it was so nice to be able to use it on the Friday afternoon and again on the Saturday morning before we checked out. There was also a jacuzzi, sauna, steam room and a gym, as well as a spa, which you could book various treatments at. Unfortunately we didn't really use too many of these as most…

March is always a pretty busy time, it's known as the 'birthday month' in our family because between the 1st and 21st, 7 of us have celebrated our birthdays! This means that there is a lot of family time, a lot of presents and a lot of cake which is a pretty good mix - plus there are loads of things I've been loving this month so I'll get started!
Something I had to mention in this monthly favourites was the rather strange weather we had! We'd not had any decent snow since 2013 and then we had multiple snow days in March, so I think it's fair to say that Spring was delayed! I actually really like the snow, it's so amazing to look out at, especially when it is untouched! Although I did slip over on the ice, straight on my back...so that wasn't as great!

This month I have worn my denim jacket constantly, I don't know how I've lived without one for so long! Besides the random snow days, we've definitely had a few milder and m…
