DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

15 RANDOM QUESTIONS TO GET TO KNOW ME BETTER

For this blog post I wanted to answer some random questions that might help you to get to know a bit more about me! I love posts like this because not only do you learn about the blogger, you can also think about how you would answer the questions too!

Where would you rather live? The countryside, a city, by the beach or mountains?

By the beach, 100%. I'd love to live in a house that overlooks the sea and I've always said that! Perhaps it's because I've always lived an hour or more away from any beaches and although that's not too far, I definitely don't go as much as I'd like. I'm very much missing days like the one above!

What was the last show you binge watched?

Hm, I tend to watch multiple things simultaneously so I recently binged The Cecil Hotel documentary on Netflix as well The Great Pottery Throw Down. I've also been watching The O.C which was one of those series I'd been planning to watch for ages!

How do you feel about surprises?

If I don't know about it then I like it but if someone tells me that something is going to be a surprise and I have to wait then I hate it! I'm so impatient and don't like not knowing things!

Something that makes your day instantly better?

Something that always boosts my mood is getting outside, especially when it's sunny! Hopefully the weather will start improving soon because that definitely helped during the first lockdown. Music is also a great mood booster, I love listening to upbeat songs to start the day and always enjoy discovering new songs and artists.

Do you prefer films or tv shows?

Tv shows for sure! I'd much rather binge multiple episodes if something than watch a film. Part of that may be because I find it harder to decide what film I want to watch but a lot of the time I'd rather re-watch a show instead of watching a new film anyway!

Is there something you disliked but have since changed your mind about it?

I'm sure there's a better answer for this but the first thing that came to mind was actually Mince Pies! I hated them for years and every Christmas I'd try them in the hopes I'd like them...it took until 2019 for my taste buds to finally change! In 2020 I actually found myself craving them when the festive season began so I'm definitely a fan now!

How do you take your tea or coffee?

If it's coffee then iced, always. However, I like both my tea and coffee fairly strong but also pretty sweet and with milk too.

Introvert or Extrovert?

Whenever I've done personality tests it always comes up as extrovert, I think that's because I get my energy from being around others. However, I'm definitely not very outgoing and probably come across as more of an introvert to people that don't know me too well! Perhaps I'd be considered an ambivert?!

Best tv theme song?

This is a pretty easy one for me and it would have to be Gilmore Girls! This may be a somewhat unpopular opinion, but I rarely ever skip intros when I'm watching shows, unless it's just a recap. The One Tree Hill theme song is another favourite that I'd never skip!

What's the last thing you do before you go to sleep?

Usually it involves my phone, which I know isn't ideal! Most of the time I'll be watching something on YouTube, Netflix or listening to either music or a podcast on Spotify. I tend to workout before bed though so that helps to tire me out at least! My sleep schedule is something I'm trying to improve so perhaps I'll have to re-think this!

Favourite type of weather?

Warm and sunny, but with a slight breeze. I feel like that's probably a very common answer! I can never really decide what my favourite season is but I'm really looking forward to Spring so we can have weather like that again!

What's your earliest memory?

I'm not a 100% sure but one thing I can definitely remember is my sister being born when I was almost 3. I was staying with my Grandparents and can vividly remember being told I was a big sister on the phone! I can also remember being quite offended when my Mum disregarded my name suggestions - Dorothy for a girl and Toto for a boy...I was obsessed with The Wizard of Oz at the time!

What sort of dreams do you have?

I've seen quite a few people mention that they've been having more vivid and exciting dreams recently but mine are the complete opposite! In fact, most of my dreams that I remember are super boring and generally consist of me doing day to day activities. Occasionally they'll be based around things I experienced at school like trips but they're always very realistic and not that exciting...who knows what that means!

Do you like Mondays?

Usually, yes! Something about starting a new week makes me feel more productive and motivated I think. In my first few years of secondary school I wasn't a fan but in the later years I generally had subjects I enjoyed and ever since then I've quite liked Mondays. Don't get me wrong, sometimes I really don't want the weekend to end though!

Do you prefer planning or spontaneity?

A bit of both. I love making lists and feeling organised but I'm also pretty flexible and adaptable so am more than happy to go with the flow too. When it comes to things like travelling, a lot of the time I'll make a vague plan but don't end up sticking to it a lot of the time!

I'd be interested to know how you'd answer these questions so please feel free to let me know in the comments. Also, if you fancy answering them as a blog post then I'd love it if you could tag me so we can compare our thoughts!

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!   My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion! If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had: scones jam clotted cream mini sausage rolls mini cheese & onion rolls strawberries raspberries chocolate cake coffee & walnut cake  biscuits pot of tea I was hopin...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
