DISNEY, DUBLIN AND FESTIVAL FUN

As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023!  I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff...

A QUICK & EASY HALLOWEEN NIGHT IN

So it's that time of the year again where everyone eats way too much sugar, buys pointless plastic rubbish to 'decorate' and Pumpkins fill shops everywhere. I'll be honest, I don't really get into Halloween anymore, I liked to dress up and go trick or treating when I was younger but it sort of loses it's fun when you're older. However I have come up with a few ideas of things you can do if you don't have anything planned for Halloween!

Treats To Last Until Christmas
One of the best things about Halloween is the excuse it gives you to pig out on junk. There are endless possibilities to the Halloween themed sweets, chocolate and other snacks and you certainly don't have to be a child to enjoy them! In fact I think we have it better of than them as essentially we get all the goods without having to walk around in the cold asking for them! We don't get a lot of trick-or-treater's in my road so we always end up with things left over, but who is complaining!

Movie Marathon
Here in the UK, the clocks have gone back and Halloween is a dark and chilly evening most years. So what better way to spend it than wrapped up in blankets with the best Halloween movies to watch. There are two roads you can go down with this. Either your classic Halloween movies - think the Nightmare Before Christmas, Hocus Pocus, Casper, Halloweentown, The Addams Family etc. (All great in their own right) Or you can go for a marathon of horror movies, IT would be a great choice this year but there are so many out there and everyone has their favourites!

Themed TV Epsiodes
Don't fancy watching movies at Halloween? A lot of TV shows incorporate the fun of Halloween into their episodes and as a Brit I love to watch American shows as they really go all out! Most people will have probably binged watch both series already but the Stranger Things episodes are very apt for a Halloween Netflix night. I also really enjoy the Pretty Little Liars Halloween Specials - forever wanting to go to a Halloween party on a train!!

Pumpkin Everything
Pumpkins really just come into their own at this time of the year don't they? Pies, lattes, soup - you name it, add Pumpkin spice to a recipe and you've basically mastered a Autumn/Halloween-esque recipe! Then of course you've also got the option of picking your own at a pumpkin farm, it's quite fascinating to see them all growing in rows and rows but don't forget that if you choose the biggest one, you have to somehow get it back home! One of my Halloween traditions that I still enjoy is carving the pumpkins, I enjoy being creative and a vegetable isn't your usual canvas so it's fun to experiment! It's also a great way to get people involved, try having a competition to see who can carve the best - time yourself if you want to be extra competitive!! All in all, your Halloween isn't complete without some form of Pumpkin - whether that's in the form of a decoration or hot beverage is up to you!

Blankets, Candles and Hot Drinks
If nothing else, use Halloween as a perfect time to get warm and enjoy a good hot drink. You can be sure that you won't end up with numb fingers after walking around outside in late October and those who are will envy your sensible decision! My favourite drink of choice is a rich hot chocolate but put  the kettle on, get the blankets and relax - I'm sure you've earned it!

Whatever it is you do on October 31st I hope you enjoyed it. Happy Halloween!🎃

LOCKDOWN BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS

Well, my 22nd birthday wasn't quite the Taylor Swift style celebration I had in mind but I still did a few things to celebrate!   My sister's birthday is a little over a week before mine so on the weekend between we set up an afternoon tea style lunch. I've seen a lot of people sharing their Afternoon Tea/Bridgerton inspired spreads recently and thought it would be a nice way to celebrate. I'm very glad we decided to do before the weather turned as it rained all day on my actual birthday! We also played cards and a few board games which is always a great way to spend the evening in my opinion! If anyone is planning to set up their own afternoon tea then I know you can order hampers online which would make a great gift. Or like us, you can buy whatever you fancy! Here's a list of the things we had: scones jam clotted cream mini sausage rolls mini cheese & onion rolls strawberries raspberries chocolate cake coffee & walnut cake  biscuits pot of tea I was hopin...

SUNDAY RESET ROUTINE

I never used to be a fan of Sundays, I just saw it as the end of the weekend and a reminder that the same weekly routine would begin again. Sunday's are often the more chilled day of the weekend and this makes it perfect for a sort of 'reset', and this can mean something different for everyone. You can do this anytime but I think it's natural to be in the mindset of making changes at the start or end of a week/month/year, but do whatever feels good for you! There are so many ways to reset, most of which involve slowing down (both mentally and physically) and focusing on yourself. I know that dedicating a whole day to this is a complete luxury but many of these things can be done in a small window of spare time, or alongside something else.  A vital part of a beneficial reset experience is self-care. There are many different forms of self-care and only you know what is best for you but here are some of my suggestions!  Get outside and going on a walk Have a bath Listen...
