As the days get colder and the rain more frequent, I've found myself looking back through photos from the summer. I was lucky to have a very busy few months after finishing my first year of university and had the best time so I thought I'd do a recap of everything I got up to. Festivals I'd never been to a festival before and this year I went to 3! The first was The Isle of Wight Festival which was just amazing and I definitely think it's a festival for everyone to enjoy. We were able to see some amazing artists including Lewis Capaldi, Tom Grennan, The Kooks, Rudimental, Madness, Shaggy and so many more. I did end up burning myself really badly on the first day, despite frequently applying suncream but that was a small price to pay and I've already planned to go again in 2023! I also went to Boomtown which is a different kind of experience music wise but was so good to spend time with my boyfriend - Ryan and our friends. Also, the sets were incredible, and the eff
Everyone has days where you need to take some time for yourself and I've created a list of a few suggestions! Taking some time out of your day to focus on yourself may seem selfish but it can really improve your mood and day, anyway, being selfish every so often never hurt anyone!
Have a pamper day
Light some candles and run a bath with your favourite Lush bath bomb, paint your nails, do a face mask or even take a trip to a spa. Pampering yourself is a great way to make you feel relaxed and refreshed!
Binge watch Netflix
Sometimes all you need is a evening, (or an entire day) to watch your favourite shows on Netflix. Whether it's something new you've come across or you're re-watching something for the 80th time, nothing can beat a day of Netflix!
Or take a trip to the Cinema
You can spend a couple hours lost in a great film and it is always good to get out and to watch something new!
Go for a walk
One of the most obvious but not to be undermined. Taking a walk and just getting outside can really help to clear your head and just makes you feel refreshed and ready for the rest of the day!
Order a takeaway
Some evenings are for takeaways, that is just a fact. Put on your pjs and enjoy all the foods!
Or why not eat healthily
If you're feeling low and just generally sluggish then sometimes eating something that is actually good for you can really help. Why not combine some of your favourite fruits and make a smoothie bowl!
Try something new
Most people have something they wish they had always tried, do it! Why not join a club, start a course or take up a new hobby. Having something that is your own thing is another great way to boost your happiness!
Do some shopping
Regardless of whether you head out to your local town, take the train to somewhere new or you just do it online in the comfort of your own home, shopping is a brilliant therapy method. Treat yourself and don't feel selfish for a second!
Plan a day trip out
Having something fun to look forward to can boost your mood instantly. So why not plan a day trip with your friends, family or partner and enjoy yourself! Head to the beach, a theatre, amusement park, art gallery, or maybe the zoo - the list is endless!
Get organised
Sometimes organising something can really help you to feel less stress and overwhelmed. Make a to do list or why not sort out your wardrobe? Whatever you do, I can bet you'll feel a sense of achievement after!
Cook or bake something
If like me, you love food then cooking or baking something is an ideal way to do something for yourself. Discovering and learning new recipes and techniques is something you can use throughout life and hey you get to eat something delicious at the end!
Start a journal
Write down your thoughts and feelings, use it to plan your life, track your savings or to help keep on top of your goals. A journal is personal to you and spending some time each day to work on it can be really beneficial!
Do something that makes you laugh
Laughing is one of the best and easiest ways to improve your mood straight away - plus it is free! So whatever makes your crack a smile, do it!
Get creative
It doesn't even matter if you are naturally creative, just flicking paint on a page can actually be really fun and is a great way to distract yourself for a bit. Maybe photography is your thing, snap some things and create a board of your best work. You can come back to it and see how you've improved!
Talk to someone
Ring up a friend you haven't spoken to in a while, spend time with family, or grab a coffee with people whose company you enjoy. Being around people is sometimes exactly what you need, even if you really, really didn't want to get out of bed!
Exercise
As much as you might not want to, exercising is a known way to improve your mood. If you're somebody who loves getting active then this is probably something you do frequently. However if you aren't in a hurry to join the gym or go on regular runs, then why not try and incorporate exercise in your daily life more subtly. You could walk or cycle to school, Uni/College or work, or why not go swimming at the weekend!
Change something
If you're feeling a bit uninspired or perhaps your bored of your normal routine, then why not make a change in your life! Rearrange a room in your house or if you have been debating a new hair style or colour then take the plunge and go for it!
Do something you enjoy
Grab a book, sing at the top of your lungs, spend time with your pet, watch some videos on YouTube or get cosy by the fire. My first choice would probably be to make a cup of tea and eat a tonne of chocolate! Whatever it is you enjoy doing, make time for it!
Start a photo album
Printing out photos and reminiscing on the great times you've had is a perfect way to cheer yourself up. So why not create a photo album and personalise it, that way you have something that is special and sentimental for you. Keep it somewhere safe to look back on old memories, and add to it when you create new ones!
Nap or sleep
Last but not least, just take a nap or go to bed early and catch up on some sleep! You'll probably feel much more relaxed and less stressed after!
These are just a few ways to look after yourself and improve your mood, if any of you have some other tips then I'd love if you could share them down below!
I loved reading this. There's a few things I wouldn't have thought of on my own. I love sitting down with a face mask, Netflix or a book when I feel like I need a little TLC x

Thank you, that’s means a lot! That’s a great way to relax and recharge x
DeleteThese tips are great I love them! Some of them are so simple but people literally don't make time for themselves anymore and often forget the smallest things really do help to make a difference! The ones about starting a journal or a photo album are definitely my favourites! I'd love to do a scrapbook type photo album so I've always got something to look back on!

It’s so important isn’t it, thank you for reading! I was thinking about what sort of things would make me most happy if I was feeling low and looking back on past memories is always something that makes me smile, I’m definitely looking to start a scrapbook/photo album type thing!x
DeleteIt's weird but I find exercising really helps too! Thank you for sharing - I'm sure lots of people will benefit from this (especially at this point in the year!)
